The Key to China

This cartoon is about the Open Door Policy. The message of the cartoon shows the United States holding the key of China. Other views are that the United States was guarding the door to China from other countries. In the background there is a Chinese man and he is happy because other countries were arriving at China. The techniques used are labeling and exaggeration. The door is clearly labeled China. Uncle Sam's size is exaggerated compared to the other countries. Uncle Sam was larger than the other countries because he was more powerful. This supports my view on imperialism because Americans could get new raw materials from China.
