The Man who can Make Dirt Fly
This cartoon is about the Panama Canal. The message of the cartoon was that Roosevelt was the only person who can construct the Panama Canal. Another opinion is that Roosevelt is shoveling out the people who are against the Panama Canal. The cartoon used exaggeration and labeling to make its point. The labeling technique shows the Panama Canal. The creator exaggerated the size of Roosevelt. The author made Roosevelt large because he wanted to show his power. This supports my view on imperialism because the U.S. needs the canal for transport from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean.
