The Spanish American War
This cartoon is about the Spanish American war. The message of the cartoon was that President McKinley let the army and navy loose to fight the Spanish over Cuba. Other views were that McKinley is scaring off the Spanish from the Western Hemisphere.The techniques used are symbolism and labeling. The dogs are the symbolism. One dog represents the army and the other dog represents the navy, The cartoon labels McKinley and Spain. This supports my view on imperialism because we need Cuba to expand the US.
